We Believe in Meeting People Where They Are

Austin Bicycle Meals was born from a simple but powerful idea: a meal can be a bridge to connection and consistent actions build trust.

Every week, our volunteer cyclists navigate the city to reach our neighbors living on the streets, offering not only just food and water, but dignity, conversation, and the reminder that they are not forgotten. Our bicycles allow us to be nimble, to reach encampments and individuals that traditional services often miss, and to do it all in a way that is sustainable, building community one pedal stroke at a time.

As co-founder Kelly Wourms says,"All you need is barely any skill on a bike, compassion, and the desire to help others."

A Note from Our Founders, Kelly & Claire

In 2022, we saw a need for a more direct and human approach to supporting our unhoused neighbors. What started as a small, personal effort to deliver meals by bike quickly snowballed into a city-wide movement fueled by the incredible generosity of the Austin community. We are not a top-down organization; we are simply two DIY oriented neighbors who believe in the power of showing up, and we are constantly inspired by the volunteers who ride with us every week. This is about building relationships and proving that small, consistent acts of kindness can create meaningful change.

Join the Movement

Whether you have time to give, funds to share, or supplies to donate, there is a place for you in this community. Here are the best ways to get involved:

Ride With Us

Whether you're a daily commuter or a weekend rider, you can help. We need cyclists to deliver supplies, and we also need non riding volunteers to help with food prep, pickup, and other helpful tasks. It's a great way to meet new people and directly serve your community.

Volunteer Opportunities

Your financial contributions go directly to purchasing food, water, and other essential supplies. A small donation provide dozens of meals and show our neighbors that their community cares. We are fiscally sponsored by Keep Austin Neighborly, so all donations are tax deductible.
